About Us

I am Jo Hilditch, proud owner of White Heron Properties! We are located on the Whittern Estate in North Herefordshire, which has been in my family for 4 generations. Traditionally the farm was a mixed arable farm but over the generations we have planted 200 acres of fruit. This includes blackurrants that we grow for Ribena (around 5% of their fruit comes from us!) and cider apples that we grow for Bulmers. During the years, I have been diversified into other areas, and we now also produce our famous British Cassis! We have appeared with the Hairy Bikers, in a lengthy piece on Countryfile, all about Herefordshire. I am a regular promoter of our beautiful county - the best kept secret in England!

The properties themselves, at the heart of our beautiful estate, are the original buildings for the gardeners and the estate blacksmith; and the old stables are where my great grandmother's carriages and favourite horses were stabled (now The Colloquy). In addition to this, I am very keen to protect this beautiful Herefordshire countryside; and the numerous footpaths that have been cut around our 700 acre estate for our guests to use pass ponds, field margins and wildflower mixes, which are all part of a Higher Level Stewardship scheme.

I am ably supported by a staff of 5 at the holiday properties. Nothing is too much trouble for our property manager Charlotte Bounds, and all of our housekeepers have an excellent eye for detail. Although we don't regularly enter accommodation competitions we are proud to have achieved Gold status in the English Tourist Board (ETB) with awards in 2007, 2009 and 2010.
