Luxury Country House
The Colloquy is an exclusive-use venue located at the heart of the Whittern Estate. It is a stunning conversion of the Estate's Victorian stable-yard, which now enjoys modern luxury and excellent leisure facilities. Designed with imagination and flair, these historic Victorian stable buildings use space to its best advantage, creating a very special environment for business or pleasure.
The standard rate for The Colloquy property sleeps 16, but you can upgrade to include an additional 7 full size single beds to sleep 23 (these beds are in mostly in galleried areas of existing bedrooms). For larger groups, The Forge The Lodge and Gardeners holiday cottages are adjacent to The Colloquy around the main courtyard and can be booked together with The Colloquy for exclusive use, to accommodate a total of 39 guests (16 bedrooms). Perfect for family reunions, girl's weekend away or group country pursuits.
Pets not allowed (except in Gardeners if taken together).

Kitchens
There are five well-equipped kitchens spread throughout the property, making self-catering much easier. The largest is next to The Parley dining room, with a double range cooker, and a large American style fridge. There is also one in the open-plan Discourse banqueting room, with a double range cooker and a fridge freezer. There are three smaller kitchens located in some of the self contained bedroom areas, two with their own fridge, cooker, kettle and toaster. There is plenty of crockery, cutlery, glasses, cookware and pans etc for even our largest of parties (eg 80 items of each crockery, wine glasses and tumblers!).

Houses a full media center (specifications on request) with Wi-Fi, OHP & presentation screen. It can be a sleek meeting room/board room in the day, an impressive dining room in the evening, and an intimate studio cinema by night. Opens onto the extensive walled gardens with outdoor seating space for up to 24. The TV is a SMART TV. There is a large collection of films and music on our media centre, but otherwise there is a DVD player should you want to bring your own. There is connectivity to an IPod from the computer, and this is played on the surround sound speakers.
The Clock View
The perfect place for cocktails before dinner, or sitting away from the main group if you need a bit of P and Q! Roomy enough for a gathering. For a meeting, it is a perfect break off meeting room with three comfortable sofas.
The Tack Room
This cosy panelled sitting room with an open fire is the perfect snug. A great place to sit with a good book and a glass of wine to relax at the end of the day. There is a second TV in here so you don't need to be glued to cartoons if you fancy watching the rugby! For our corporate guests this can provide a third comfortable meeting room with three sofas.
The Discourse
Lofty double height room with exposed beams; this can be a comfortable and spacious sitting area with a third TV. A great communal space with a dining room at one end and an L-shaped kitchen at the other. It can be cleared to seat a large party of up to 40 people on our long extendable tables, and opens onto the courtyard, which is a lovely space for a drinks party on a summer evening. Alternatively our corporate guests will enjoy using a second boardroom table area; the TV has scart lead sockets so you can hook up your laptop.
The Whisper
This is the small dining area between bedrooms 5 and 6, it provides a further break off area for our corporate guests, or a place to feed the kids before putting them to bed, away from the hubbub of the rest of the party.
Enjoy a taste of Herefordshire
We can provide a range of different options if you wish to take advantage of a catering service. We recommend that you liaise with the caterer of your choice directly, but we can do this for you at additional cost. All caterers can also supply their own waiters and waitresses. Our most regularly used chefs are listed below. Our two girls Sarah and Loopy, both come highly recommended and are very proficient and efficient chefs. Both Jamie and the Cider Barn have worked with us for many years and can offer a huge variety of different dishes. Simon and Meg are still relatively new to us but great feedback from the guests who have used them

Laura “Loopy” Folkes
Laura is a local chef who offers private catering with all the trimmings. She is very flexible and happy to cater for groups of any size, and stays of any length. Laura can deliver ready-made and home-cooked meals which cater for a wide range of dietary requirements. She is happy to provide tailor-made menus or to cater for your menu ideas. Jamie Yardley
