Summer Activities in Herefordshire

The fast approaching summer holidays and lovely sunny weather means the start of trying to find activities to do with the family, and we all know how difficult that can be! We are often being asked by our guests at White Heron Properties for recommendations and are always more than happy to help. With this in mind we thought that we would pull together a list of some exciting activities, which will hopefully put you in the summer mood and get you out into the stunning countryside that Herefordshire has to offer.

Rowlestone Court - Hereford -
There isn’t really a better way to spend a nice summer day than eating ice cream, especially when the ice cream is made fresh on site using Rowlestone Court’s own cows. You could enjoy this whilst taking a walk in the wildlife area and play area (there is even a zip slide - perfect for the kids and even the adults).

Wye Valley Visitor Centre - Ross-On-Wye -
There is something for everybody to do at The Wye Valley Visitor Centre, you will not be left disappointed! From the butterfly zoo (great for the little ones), hedge maze, miniature golf, laser tag - as well as a tearoom and picnic areas - you are bound to have a great day.

Go Ape - Forest Of Dean -
One of the more popular attractions is Go Ape. Here you can swing amongst the trees, climb ropes and more, all on zip wires! You could even try zooming through the forest on a Segway - sure to make a memorable day out.

Clearwell Caves - Forest Of Dean -
Ever been underground into a cave? If that’s a no, well now you can! Taking a visit into the Clearwell Caves will let you take a view at the amazing iron ore mines that have been around since ancient times. The caves are constantly kept at 10ºC though, so make sure you bring a jumper!

Small Breeds Farm and Owl Centre - Hereford -
One for the animal lovers - Small Breeds Farm and Owl Centre has around 71 different types of animals, from stunning snowy owls to reindeers and 26 year old tortoises! There’s bound to be something to entertain visitors of all ages, so what are you waiting for?

Queenswood Country Park - Leominster -
Queenswood Country Park would make a great place to to go to if you have a dog visiting with you in either our Gardeners Cottage or Sherriffs properties. 160 acres of woodland gives you plenty of time to have a relaxing walk amongst nature, and then take a visit to the cafe and childrens’ play area.

If one of these activities appeal to you, make sure you visit our beautiful county and take advantage of our Last Minute offers by visiting our booking page.
