Places to visit: Ludlow

We are always being asked by our  guests what they can do during their stay with us and a visit to Ludlow is always at the top of our list. It's just a 30 minute drive from the estate and the perfect place to spend a day. Here are just a few of our favourite things!

Coffee and cake at our favourite cafes
It is not secret that are a number of great cafes in Ludlow; something to suit everyone, they are the perfect pit-stop after a day exploring. It is hard to pick but two of our top spots are listed below:

New year preparations

Once the madness of Christmas has left us the New Year can be a great time to get away from it all, reflect on the old year and plan for the New one ahead. Sometimes a change of scene is all that is needed to clear your mind and let the creative juices flow! So it's not surprising that January sees many new visitors to the estate; taking full advantage of the peace and tranquility that North Herefordshire has to offer. The estate is close enough to civilisation to allow you to spend time in a cosy pub or cafe but remote enough to have a rich tapestry of countryside at your feet.

Festive Markets in Herefordshire and beyond

Whether you are looking to purchase some unique handmade gifts or sample delicious, local produce, Herefordshire and the surrounding counties are not short of winter events this year.

There are so many to choose from, so we've compiled our favourite top 5 for you to visit whilst staying at White Heron Properties during the festive season:

Even though the estate is located in a rural area, there is an abundance of cafes serving up delicious, local food. Whether it is a tea break or tasty lunch, we've put together our favourite for you to try out during your stay:

Autumn Events in Herefordshire and beyond

As we enter the cooler months, we believe everything is beginning to wind down in preparation for the winter months. In Herefordshire and the surrounding counties, this is definitely not the case.

Autumn is the perfect time for a rural getaway; catching the last of the sunshine at the end of August and heading into September we see the leaves change their colours. In addition to this, this beautiful part of the country is home to some of the most well known and established food festivals.

Things to do in Herefordshire in June

June is a particularly lovely time of year to visit Herefordshire, where our meandering valleys and woodlands will be bursting with colour and rustling with wildlife. For those of you who are visiting the county this month, we also have a number of local events to keep you entertained. Have a read below for a few of our favourites.

Leominster Festival

Food Festivals

The month of May kick-starts my favourite season… food festival season! There’s nothing better than sampling the county’s finest produce. So being the foodie that I am, I’ve put together a guide for the top local foodie spots throughout summer ‘17.

Herefordshire's Hidden Treasures

Whether it’s a boutique restaurant tucked away down a cobbled street, a beautiful walking trail in the countryside, or a stunning landscape by the river, Herefordshire is full of many hidden treasures. If you’re visiting us this season, make sure you check them out.

King Street Kitchen
Every relaxing weekend away starts with brunch at an independent cafe. Enjoy their Little Hereford Madame, washed down with a Clipper organic tea. The Salted Caramel Brownie makes this little gem worth a visit too!

Summertime in Herefordshire

Herefordshire and its surrounding counties are always a pleasure in the summertime, whether you’re up on the hills, down in the woodlands or at one of the many fantastic attractions. Hopefully we’ll have lots of sunshine this summer to explore what this wonderful county has to offer. Here are some of my favourites

Happy Valentine's Day

The month of love is finally here, so I wanted to wish you all a very Happy Valentine’s Day! Whether you’re single or spoken for, it’s always nice to remind your nearest and dearest just how much you love them.

Some people find it difficult to hunt down the perfect gift for their loved one, so we’re going to make it easy for you! Roses and chocolate are always well received, but they can be a little cliché. Instead, why not book a romantic trip to The Whittern Estate. We still have availability at some of our smaller luxury cottages on our 700-acre picturesque estate.
