Autumn is now in full swing and I don’t know about you, but there’s something magical about Autumn with its trees surrounded by pools of amber and gold. Whilst out on a crisp walk through the orchards last week, I was inspired to write about our local Cider businesses. Apple season is now underway, so it only seemed fitting!
Days Out - Kington
Well this good weather looks set to stay as we head into August, so for those that don't want to roam far in the heat, our nearest town is Kington, a solid walk (wear a hat) or a short drive will bring you to this historic market town, surrounded by undulating hills and with a lovely mix of independent shops and cafes.
What's on in Herefordshire in July
What’s On in Herefordshire: July.
The summer holidays are nearly upon us and with those eight weeks often comes the question of how to entertain the children. If you are staying in one of our properties this July with your family, or perhaps a quiet break away for yourself, here are some great ideas of what to do during your stay in Herefordshire.
What's on in Herefordshire in June
What’s On In June
Herefordshire in June is a truly magical time, everywhere is green, the sun is shining (most of the time!) and there are some fantastic events for all of the family to attend. Here is a round up of some of our favourites.
Herefordshire Walking Festival, 16-24 June.
Herefordshire Walking Festival is the perfect opportunity for you to learn and practice map reading skills, with guidance on hand, whilst walking through ancient woodland.
Hay Festival Fever is here!
This month sees us getting all bookish at we look forward to the Hay Festival from 24th May- 3rd June. Each year the Whittern estate is buzzing with event-goers and this year is sure to be no different. We are just a short car journey away from the book capital and so it's really convenient to pop back and forward across the week to make the most of the jam-packed events list.
A visit from two Baronesses!
I was delighted last month to welcome businesswomen from across Hereford to a new and exciting business forum at our event venue- The Colloquy.
Women across Herefordshire and beyond enjoyed an inspiring business masterclass from Baronesses Michelle Mone and Karren Brady as part of a new women-only business masterclass. The event is the brainchild of local businesswoman and international speaker, Vikki Thomas.
Summer Holiday Planning
White Heron is a great base for families wanting to explore Herefordshire and get away from city life. Time to get the kids off their devices and make memories! We often get asked by guests to suggest places to visit over the school holidays and so I've put together some of our top suggestions of things to do in Herefordshire this year!
The Easter break is the perfect time to experience Herefordshire. The lushness of the fields and the first signs of Spring are undeniably beautiful and satisfying for the soul.
Herefordshire and the Wye valley is beautiful rolling hills and dreamy countryside, if you haven't visited before we are positive you will not be disappointed. That's why we would choose a staycation in the UK over going abroad any day. We might be slightly biased but we genuinely love what our county has to offer. Herefordshire is a great destination to experience tranquility, history, food and much more.
Places to visit: Ludlow
We are always being asked by our guests what they can do during their stay with us and a visit to Ludlow is always at the top of our list. It's just a 30 minute drive from the estate and the perfect place to spend a day. Here are just a few of our favourite things!
Coffee and cake at our favourite cafes
It is not secret that are a number of great cafes in Ludlow; something to suit everyone, they are the perfect pit-stop after a day exploring. It is hard to pick but two of our top spots are listed below:
New year preparations
Once the madness of Christmas has left us the New Year can be a great time to get away from it all, reflect on the old year and plan for the New one ahead. Sometimes a change of scene is all that is needed to clear your mind and let the creative juices flow! So it's not surprising that January sees many new visitors to the estate; taking full advantage of the peace and tranquility that North Herefordshire has to offer. The estate is close enough to civilisation to allow you to spend time in a cosy pub or cafe but remote enough to have a rich tapestry of countryside at your feet.
